Chosen as one of VARIETY’S “Top Ten Actors to Watch” and one of Hollywood’s leading men, Laz Alonso stars as Mothers Milk, in the Emmy nominated, #1 show on Amazon Prime, THE BOYS. Most recently, Laz starred in BAFTA award winning director Guy Ritchie’s action thriller, WRATH OF MAN, opposite Jason Statham as well as co-starring in Oscar winning director, Kathryn Bigelow’s critically acclaimed film DETROIT.

 

From Action to drama’s to hit romantic comedies, Laz received an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor In A Motion Picture for Colombia Picture’s JUMPING THE BROOM opposite Paula Patton. He reunited with his costar on Lionsgate’s TRAFFIK, directed by Deon Taylor. He is also a BET AWARDS Best Actor nominee. Laz’s boundless range has allowed him to work with some of the best in the business, like Oscar winning director James Cameron, playing the heroic role of “Tsu’Tey” in the highest grossing film of all time, AVATAR. He has starred as the the lead villain opposite Vin Diesel, as “Fenix”, in Universal Pictures’ FAST AND FURIOUS, which not only reunited the original cast but also relaunched the franchise into the high grossing brand it is today.

 

His previous movie credits include lead roles in Sony Screen Gems’ cult hits, STOMP THE YARD and THIS CHRISTMAS, worked with Oscar winning director, Sam Mendes in the Iraq war film, JARHEAD, opposite Academy Award winner JamieFoxx and Jake Gyllenhaal. He starred in Oscar nominated director Rod Lurie’s remake of the Sam Peckinpah’s classic, STRAW DOGS and Oscar winning director Spike Lee’s MIRACLE AT ST. ANNA, about the WWII Buffalo Soldiers.

 

Laz’s television credits also include leading roles in NBC’s prime time series, DECEPTION, THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA, and the lead of A&E’s cult hit, BREAKOUT KINGS.

 

As EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, Laz EP’d and starred opposite Danny Glover in Alan Jacobs’ DOWN FOR LIFE, which premiered in the Toronto Film Festival and received critical acclaim. He most recently Executive Produced the independent film, DETAINED, starring opposite Abbie Cornish. Laz currently serves as CEO of his TV and Film production company Abundancia Pictures, which focuses on making films and TV shows that entertain while touching the soul.

 

Born and raised in Washington DC to a family of Afro-Cuban exile’s, Laz graduated from the prestigious Howard University, School of Business, earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and continues to take classes at UCLA in film & TV production. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
