Sam Irvin started his career as Brian De Palma’s assistant on THE FURY and DRESSED TO KILL.
He has directed over 50 films and television shows, including ELVIRA’S HAUNTED HILLS, OBLIVION, GUILTY AS CHARGED, and DANTE’S COVE; co-executive produced the Academy Award winning GODS AND MONSTERS starring Sir Ian Kellen; and served as the historical consultant for the Tony Award winning LIZA’S AT THE PALACE starring Liza Minnelli.
The Queer Screams Film Festival awarded Irvin its 2023 Career Achievement Award. Irvin has won 5 Rondo Awards, including the 2023 Writer of the Year Award for his coming-of-age memoir I WAS A TEENAGE MONSTER HUNTER! HOW I MET VINCENT PRICE, CHRISTOPHER LEE, PETER CUSHING & MORE! (with a Foreword by Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira)
His other books include the acclaimed biography KAY THOMPSON: FROM FUNNY FACE TO ELOISE (Simon & Schuster); the novel ORBGASM: AN EROTIC PULP SCI-FI SATYRICON; and the children’s book parody SAM’S TOILET PAPER CAPER! His latest book is THE EPIC SAGA BEHIND “FRANKENSTEIN: THE TRUE STORY” (with a Foreword by Anne Rice; and an Afterword by Guillermo del Toro).
